CSN Project Management Term Paper
MGT462, CSN, Project, Management, Term, Paper
The purpose of this assignment is to explore the field of Project Management and how you as a CSN Project Management major believe you will make a positive impact on your career with the knowledge you have obtained thus far in the program. In order to accomplish this task successfully, it will require you to do a bit of general online research, self-analysis, and exploration and review of the Project Management Institute (PMI) website.
There are 4 major components to this assignment that are each worth 50 points. You will be graded on your ability to answer the statements completely and with evidence to back up your assertions or claims. Be sure to spell and grammar check your writing prior to submission, which will then be emailed directly to your professor. Good luck!
Questions 1 & 2: https://thedigitalprojectmanager.com/project-management-skills/#comments
(100 points, 50/part)
Part 1: This recent article by Ben Aston provides a great summary of the Project Management Field along with the skills necessary to be successful. The skills list is essentially divided into three categories. Review each of the categories carefully and describe which 3 skills in each category (for a total of 9) you believe you need to be successful in your career and why.
This should take at least several paragraphs. Provide a work or academic example as to how you have used at least 3 of skills you have selected. MGT462
Part 2: Now that you have read the article, identify at least 3 skills from any category you believe are among your weaker skill set. Try to be completely honest in your assessment. Every working adult professional has weaknesses no one is perfect.
Those who really excel take the time to honestly evaluate their knowledge, skills and abilities and then make any necessary adjustments. Which 3 would you say you need to improve? And why do you believe this is the case? Provide an example to support your rationale for identifying your weaknesses; perhaps a situation in your work, academic or family life lead you to your assessment.
This should be accomplished in at least a couple of paragraphs. Honesty will set you free!
Question 3: https://productivityland.com/project-management-skills/
(50 points)
Here is another article by a different author, Steve Parker, that also highlights essential Project Management Skills. But wait a minute, didn’t we just review a complete suggested skill set that is needed for success by Ben Aston? Of course, but the Parker article lists the skill set in a different mindset.
This is commonplace. Take a few minutes and review Parker’s article and then decide if you see any overlap or difference between his and Aston’s approach. What three skills are evident and you believe to be most critical to have based on both of these articles? Why? Provide your rationale in several paragraphs using the information from the articles.
