The way you think about leadership influences how you practice leadership. Scholars have struggled for years to define ‘leadership’. Those definitions and our thoughts about leadership have evolved greatly over time and consequently, leadership means different things to different people. Some consider leadership as evidenced by the presence of certain traits, specific abilities, or even a particular set of skills. Others look at specific behaviors the leader demonstrates or they view leadership as a relationship or a process between the leader and followers. These are all viable, but different theoretical approaches to defining leadership. Realizing that leadership can be thought of in different ways (trait, ability, skill, behavior, relationship, and/or process), this leadership questionnaire helps to ferret out your preference, if you have one. To see how leadership is practiced and to answer the question ‘what is leadership?’, complete the assessment Conceptualizing Leadership Questionnaire. For this assignment: Complete the Conceptualizing Leadership Questionnaire . Analyze your results and prepare a short paper responding to the questions below. Describe your view leadership based on the results of this questionnaire. Include your scores for all of the theories. Describe the theory/theories which you scored the highest. How does this particular theory connect with how you view leadership? ( Must quote/paraphrase the text and include the citation) Describe one of the theories where you scored lower. Discuss how this particular theory does not resonate with your view of leadership. ( Must quote/paraphrase the text and include the citation) In one sentence provide your working definition of leadership. Begin with ‘Leadership is….. Your response should include direct reference to the text by describing the theories you discuss.
