Shared production is beneficial because it allows one country to focus on producing only what they can produce the best and the most efficiently whereas the other parts can be produced by a separate country that is
more efficient in creating those parts. Overall, shared production increases productivity and efficiency while driving costs down
The real reason manufacturing jobs are disappearing is because we made improvements in our own productivity through automation. One out of ten is lost to off-shoring. There was some talk of restricting trade or
protectionism. One is the loss of high-paying U.S. manufacturing jobs declines and moves off shore attracting low-cost labor. Two trade agreements are unfair because it allows companies to re-import cheaply
produces goods back to the U.S. where the jobs were taken. Inturn the exporters win and importers lose. Automation is not happening to just our location it is happening around the world. Manufacturers are finding
technology helpful and a great way to produce a product at a lower cost than having to hire and train a person.
I do think manufacturing jobs will disappear faster if the minimum wage increases. The cost incurred during the pre-stages of hiring a person, training them to complete the job, and maintaining them is an expense that
many do not want to incur. If it’s cheaper to purchase a machine and program it to do what you need then the number of people needed decreases only a few in needed to monitor the machines.
A shared production allows each country to get high-quality products at a lower cost. It becomes a win-win for everyone.
