INSTURCTIONS:

Write a 2-3 page paper explaining your conception of “the good life.” In other words, describe the life you believe most likely to bring you happiness. Your paper should have an introduction, at least three coherent paragraphs of body, and a conclusion. Please write in clear, well-constructed, complete sentences. Things you might consider are Aristotle’s conception of the good life, your “core values,” and the questions raised by “Businessman and the Fisherman.” What I am most interested to see is that you have given the question some serious thought.

MY PERCEPTION OF A GOOD LIFE (you should base the essay on the following):

Every person may have a different perception of what a good life is. My perception of a good life is to surround yourself with people who love you and care about you. Yes, I believe money and having this kind of freedom help, but you’ve got to have valuable people in your life to spend the money with. Money doesn’t directly buy happiness, but it can buy anything that can make you happy except friends. A good life for me is a life full of joy, respect for yourself and others, and fulfilling your goals, whatever these may be. Becoming a better person every day and cultivating yourself is also another step towards a good life. Also, don’t follow something that doesn’t make you happy because other people are doing it, even if it makes you happy at first in the long run you’ll probably regret it.
