A “project charter” is an official, characteristically document which are brief that outlines the scheme in its wholeness. It includes what the goals and objectives are, the way it is going to be undertaken, and who the shareholders are. It is a vital ingredient in the preparation of the scheme since it is employed in the entire lifecycle of the project.
This charter is focusing on the time-lapse of china’s construction miracle as a result of constructing a 15 store building hotel in less than 6 days.
Project Title:
The title of the project is called Changsha Ark Hotel and was a 15 stories building. This project was projected to take less than 6 days and that is exactly what happened. The sponsor for this project was China’s Broad Group.
Business Need:
The key need for constructing this 15 stories building in less than 6 days was that China’s Broad Group desired to demonstrate the efficiency and speed of its novel technology when it comes to construction, hence in a record period, they constructed the “Ark Hotel in Changsha”.
Deliverables
The deliverable was to make sure that this project of 15 stories has been completed on time stipulated. Through this, the project sponsors desire was met which was to showcase the efficiency and speed when it comes to technological advancement in the field of constructions.
Risks and issues.
The risk associated with this construction was that it could not be in a position to withstand an earthquake which could be beyond a 9.0 magnitude. Another issue what that the building was not meant to serve for a long period since it was constructed through the use of prefabricated parts. Also, the time frame was challenging if they could have decided to construct material on-site and assemble them. Instead, they opted to manufacture the materials off-site which possibly took weeks to produce them completely.
Assumptions/Dependencies.
The assumption on this project was that for them to complete within the 6 days a record time, everything will be available on-site on time since the materials were fabricated of the site.
Financials.
Even though the total cost was not disclosed, The “Ark Hotel” was constructed on one-sixth the material for the construction of an equivalent sized construction with a 20% cost saving.
Milestone Schedule.
Using a group of 200 workforces the physical outline was erected in only 46.5 hours and the exterior covering and interior non- physical surfaces were finished in another 90 hours. In a total of fewer than 6 days, a 15 stories building was complete and that was the time-lapse of china’s construction miracle.
