My name is Merrisha Joubert and I have previously been to college before so let’s start of with my experience in college
Back in 2015, I graduated from high school and I went to a 4 yearinstitutie at Texas State University for one semester. I was struggling because I didn’t have any experience in studying or how to study. So I didn’t do too well in my classes but something happened during the time I was at Texas State. I don’t know if you guys need that information but it’s basically, im hearing impaired and i have a tuition waiver that pay for my classes but the company called DARS who wanted to help me pay for my room and board and books, the university gave me my funds and at the end of the semester they asked me to refund them the money that was giving to me. I didn’t have enough funds to give back to them so i had to leave the campus. My grades there weren’t that great either. So I decided to go to Houston Community College and restarted everything because I couldn’t transfer my transcript unless I paid them. So i was at hcc from fall 2016- spring 2017. Fall 2016 wasn’t as bad for my first year there at hcc, but in 2017 spring was bad, i got into a car accident and that really made me not be as focused as i could have been in school, i was lost and confused and ididnt end up doing my best during that semester. At that moment, I thought school wasn’t for me and I gave up. I haven’t been in college for 2 ½ years.
During the years i haven’t been in school, i decided right after i signed up for summer classes in 2017. I never attended and decided to go to a trade school called Brightwood College and wanted to be a Medical Assistant. I finished the program and graduated with a diploma of Medical Assistant. Yet something was off during this time, nursing was still my calling, i just didn’t know when the time was right to go back to school so it took me 2 years to finally get back on track.
Here we are in 2020, i decided to take 1 class because i was on probation due to my summer classes i signed up for, i didn’t drop the class, i did get withdrawal but one professor decided to give me a grading that i did not attend so it affect me as a person and my gpa because my tuition waiver helps pay for my classes, i wasn’t able to use it bc of my gpa. So I had to come out of pockets and pay one semester and one class. I believed in myself and I had to have faith to be able to do this again and did my research over the years on how to study, what type of learner i am, what i like best in my learning specially as an hearing impaire student. My hearing does affect my learning but I do my very best with what’s being thrown at me now that I got the hang of what college is really about.
So I’m doing so much better in my classes and really taking my education seriously. I have been dreaming of this day that I will get back in school and prove to myself that I can do it and that I can be a nurse.
The reason why I want to attend this school is because during my research, Texas A&M nursing program is in the top 10 best nursing schools so i know the program can help me be the best nurse that i can be and teach me everything i need to know before getting in the career field. This school can bring me a lot of knowledge and value information that can help me be successful in the long run.
You can add anything that can help bring the admission attention. Make it sound interesting, grabs the reader’s attention, ANYTHING that can work!!!!
If there’s any information that you need to add on about me, please please let me know!!!
No rush to finish this essay.
