THE ROLE OF THE RN/APRN IN POLICY MAKING
ASSIGNMENT INTRODUCTION:
Word cloud generators have become popular tools for meetings and team-building events. Groups or teams are asked to use these applications to input words they feel best describe their team or their role. A “word cloud” is generated by the application that makes prominent the most-used terms, offering an image of the common thinking among participants of that role. What types of words would you use to build a nursing word cloud? Empathetic, organized, hard-working, or advocate would all certainly apply. Would you add policy-maker to your list? Do you think it would be a very prominent component of the word cloud? Nursing has become one of the largest professions in the world, and as such, nurses have the potential to influence policy and politics on a global scale. When nurses influence the politics that improve the delivery of healthcare, they are ultimately advocating for their patients. Hence, policy-making has become an increasingly popular term among nurses as they recognize a moral and professional obligation to be engaged in healthcare legislation.
To Prepare: Revisit the Congress.gov website provided in the Resources and consider the role of RNs and APRNs in policy-making. Reflect on potential opportunities that may exist for RNs and APRNs to participate in the policy-making process.
Post an explanation of at least two opportunities that exist for RNs and APRNs to actively participate in policy-making. Explain some of the challenges that these opportunities may present and describe how you might overcome these challenges. Finally, recommend two strategies you might make to better advocate for or communicate the existence of these opportunities to participate in policy-making. Be specific and provide examples.
ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS!!!:
Respond to my colleagues’* posts by suggesting additional opportunities or recommendations for overcoming the challenges described by your colleagues.

The Role of RN and APRN in Policy Making Through their political acumen, skill at efficient communication, and cooperation with other members of various medical organizations, nurses always have a say in matters about health. This leads to an improvement in their working conditions and their patient care. The organizations’ internal problems may make it challenging for participants to engage in such policy-making procedures (Schirle et al., 2020). Active participation in policy formation is allowed for nurse practitioners and advanced practice certified nurses. These consist of the following:
2.Opportunities at work The roles and abilities of RNs and APRNs as professionals in organizations include the ability to influence current and upcoming healthcare programs (Milstead & Short, 2019). They support the patient’s state of health. The working conditions of nurses must be improved in order for them to provide patients with better healthcare. They might have an impact on how management decides to revisit the policy. The working environment ensures that policies support both the standard of patient care and the security of nurses.
These opportunities come with challenges which include:
Solution
This complicated membership registration procedure can be made easier by creating a less complicated method that is open to anyone who wants to join the organization. The license costs should be lowered to accommodate all nurses.
Solution:
Any modifications to the rules governing nurses’ operations need to be communicated to them. Healthcare professionals should allow nurses to advance in their careers. This can be done by giving them access to leadership positions. This would give them more courage to challenge laws that do not advance their welfare or the welfare of their patients. would promote the following tactics to ensure the presence of these opportunities:
2.Movement To encourage staff engagement in decision-making, healthcare providers need effective leadership. This makes it possible to exchange ideas and create better plans to raise the quality of services provided.
