Analysis and Discussion of the Ethical Dilemma

The ethical dilemma is: “Mary is seeking counseling services from Nicholas who works for a wellness recovery center. Mary is having trouble in her marriage and wants to seek services before asking her husband for a divorce. Mary meets with Nicholas every week on Thursday. Mary has not disclosed to her husband where she goes every week on Thursday. During their sessions Mary provides a lot of information to her counselor about her marriage. Nicholas starts to feel sorry for Mary and what she is going through and he starts to offer Mary comforting words and slight hugs. Before you know it, Mary and Nicholas are talking on the phone outside of their weekly meetings. Nicholas likes Mary and is now encouraging Mary to leave her husband to be with him. Mary likes Nicholas too but she doesn’t want to leave her husband”.
