The use of force by the police is a contemporary issue that needs an immediate solution. The issue of the police force can be solved by coming up with strict laws, policies and procedures that govern how the police should engage and arrest civilians. Secondly, there should be proper training of police officers on better ways to conduct an arrest, such as the hands-off strategy.

Thirdly, there should be the elimination of vulgar language when the police address the civilians, and a clear way of tracking the complaints raised by the civilians can be formulated to ensure all challenges are solved. Demilitarization is also another solution to end the use of force by the police.

The appropriate steps that the organization can take to implement the solutions effectively include identifying the types of crimes that people in the locality engage in and formulating strategies on how to end or prevent the crimes by performing undercover intelligence so as to collect the right evidence and identify the right people to arrest.

After an undercover surveillance, enough information will be collected to make any correct decision. Then a warrant of arrest can be issued to arrest a certain person or a group of people knowing very well that you have enough information. After arrest, the criminal will then be taken to court to defend themselves. This procedure will create a systematic way of performing an operation of arrest hence solving the problem of the police using force (Chalfin, et al., 2020).

In the procedures of eradicating the use of force by the police, aspects such as strict policy measures should be implemented and adhered to strictly. For example, the most recent police brutality case was that of George Floyd, in which he was seen being harassed by the police officers instead of lawfully arresting him. Therefore the police officers should be held accountable for their excessive use of force against civilians, their irresponsibility and not upholding the laws as stated in the constitution.

In order to effectively implement these laws and policies, the police officers should strictly follow them so as to abolish the use of force by the police. For instance, when a criminal is arrested, the police should be able to do it with decorum and respect by first presenting the warrant of arrest before arresting the suspect.

In addition, the police should be sure of the individual to arrest in order to avoid rebellion from the civilians because when the wrong person is arrested, then it may lead to violence which in turn will lead to the police using force to protect themselves. The police who use force and injure the arrested persons should also be prosecuted in court as an offence.

Defense:

Solving the problem of force by the police will reduce the brutality of the police and lead to better relations between the police and the civilians. This will improve the service delivery by the police to the civilians, and there will be an easy collection of data to solve some of the causes of insecurity.

There will be improved security within the organization and also in its environs. Removal of vulgar language will improve the reporting of cases by civilians because they will feel that the police uphold their principles and values while performing their roles and responsibilities. In addition, demilitarization of the police will result in creating a friendly working environment for the police and the suspects or criminals will also be able to surrender hence eliminating the problem police force.

The data used to come up with solutions has been a true indicator of reality in the criminal justice system. For example, a police officer who is militarized can easily gain a setback from the civilians leading to them using force in order to protect themselves. This leads to introducing aspects such as demilitarization, which will decrease or prevent police brutality. Another main aspect is the training of the police officers to observe the codes and ethics when arresting an individual so as to improve their services. Data analysis is always a very key aspect when dealing with the use of force by the police.

This research has been stimulated by the brutality of the police in which they interact with the civilians in an unfriendly manner. The research includes aspects such as the causes of police brutality, which at most times is caused by psychosocial issues like the use of poor methods of communication, including vulgar language, which ignites the civilians to reach back to the police.

According to research, certain social behaviors are also the main cause of police brutality (Farkas, Sallai, & Krauzer, 2020). This is due to their daily interaction with the civilians out there, and when fear is created, the civilians will cause chaos against the police hence the use of force. This can be effectively minimized by having sound social interactions between the police and the general public.

Communication Plan:

Communication is a very important aspect of any organization since it facilitates the sharing of the organization’s plans and objectives and how they will be achieved in the end. Dealing with the issue of the police using force is a very essential and sensitive matter since it involves human life and respecting their human rights under the constitution. Therefore sharing and communicating the plans and strategies will significantly help to address the issue in a correct way.

Therefore, communication in relation to the issue of police brutality should involve providing laws and policies that should be followed by both the police officers and the civilians to curb the problem and ensure that the law brings and facilitates fairness and equality in giving a precise solution.

The internal audience is the police, who are the ones implementing the laws and arresting those who break them, while the external audience is the civilians who live under the law. Presenting information to the internal audience that will guide them in their operations should be done in a systematic way. It can be done by explaining to them how to arrest an individual and the procedures they should follow, like interrogating a suspect before arresting and conducting surveillance.

The other party, the external audience, should be presented with the laws and policies so that they do not violate them hence minimizing police arrest. In addition, the external audience should be taught how to be whistleblowers in case instances of the police using force are witnessed, which needs evidence so that proper execution can be done. The internal audiences who are the police are always in the limelight to any criminal; thus, the way they arrest those criminals must adhere to the law.

Based on the external audience, who regularly break the law either knowingly or unknowingly, this places them on the watch of the police. When the police identify a lawbreaker or suspect, they should follow all the procedures stated by law before arresting them. Some of the suspects or criminals might end up attacking the police, thinking that they are not worth an arrest.

This requires the police officers to present charges to the civilians so that they can always know or be aware of which offence they have committed. During an arrest, they should also be aware of how an arrest is conducted by the police before being presented to the court for trial.
