For this week’s assignment, you will need to find volunteers to complete couple’s assessments. You may choose to use a single couple for all of the assessments or use multiple couples for some or any combination of the assessments. It is important that all partners in the relationship complete the same assessment and that their results are reported in a single report. These assessments must be completed by individuals other than you and those with whom you are partnered. It is important to remember as you administer these instruments to others that this is strictly for a class activity. You are not qualified to provide actual recommendations or interpretations of the results of these instruments.
Once you have procured volunteers, administer the following assessments (found in this week’s Books and Resources): The Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale (RDAS), the Kansas Marital Satisfaction Scale (KMSS), the Locke-Wallace Marital Adjustment Test (MAT), and the Weiss-Cerreto Marital Status Inventory (MSI). Then, score the assessments using the scoring instructions and write a Clinical Assessment Report (CAR). Both the scoring instructions and the CAR template can be found in your Weekly Resources. You will need to complete a total of four CARs, one for each assessment. Remembering that this is a relational assessment, you want to focus on the couple as a system. For instance, if Couple 1 completes the MAT, their scores, background information, observations, etc., should be in one report. It is important to reflect on the similarities and differences in their scores to understand what this may suggest about their relationship. Depending on the number of individuals you assess, you will have a minimum of 8 assessment measures completed, but will only have a total of 4 CARs (one for each assessment).
Once you have completed the CARs, combine them into a single document and briefly respond to the following prompts:
Submit a single document that includes the CARs and response to the above prompts. It is critical that you also submit Consent Forms for each volunteer. You do not need to submit the completed assessments.
Note: Please be clear with your volunteer couple(s) that this is an academic exercise not intended in any way to be an actual assessment of one’s emotions, cognitions, or relational stability, and remember to complete the informed consent form as needed.
Your essay should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards.
