Profitable Entity Addressing Community-Based Issues
For-profit organizations are those that conduct their operations with the anticipation that they will make profits from their operations and activities. However, for-profit organizations can contribute to fighting against poverty and hunger in various communities in many ways. One of the ways includes forming a partnership with non-profit organizations to support community-based initiatives or programs. For instance, the for-profit organization can help by lending its employees to non-profit entities part-time or full-time. Another way that the for-profit organization can help address the community-poverty-related issues is by empowering women by investing in them. In essence, women are considered the brunt of poverty’s ravages in many developing and developed countries. Women are more likely to invest back into their families and their communities at large (Kaye, 2013). For instance, the for-profit organization can employ more women in its senior positions after training them effectively.
The money earned has a high chance of landing in the families and communities where the women are located compared to when the money is allocated to men only. Therefore, investing in women will offer the profitable entity a chance to contribute its efforts in addressing the issue without affecting its operations and assets. Profitable organizations can also address the community-based issue by reimaging the regional ecosystems in which they operate or participate (Kaye, 2013). They can consider searching for systematic, mobilized complementary partners; multisector opportunities; and obtain scale-up and seed financing from entities with poverty alleviation missions. Moreover, it would be beneficial to align various stakeholders with the community-based initiatives through proven tools like a co-created approach map.
