Preliminary Approach for Final Project
Conflict selected
The conflict I have selected is personal. In this conflict, the parties involved are me, my friend, and a friend of my friend. The main issue of conflict concerns the use of abusive language and gossiping. My friend told her friend that I was an immature and irrational person. When I realized my friend talked negatively about me, I felt terrible, and a conflict arose between us.
Conflict success
If the conflict I faced was handled successfully, I believe our friendship would revive and be more robust than before. My friend will realize her mistakes when this conflict is dealt with well. She will then apologize for the issues and promise not to repeat them. Furthermore, she will make me feel better and help me perceive the situation positively.
Conflict goal
The goal for my conflict will be conflict transformation. I choose this approach because of its effectiveness in addressing conflict. The conflict transformation effect changes in the cognitive or emotional aspect of a person’s experience in the conflict (Emkic, 2018). Since the conflict I faced would negatively affect my self-esteem and emotional stability, then conflict transformation would offer an efficient solution. The approach will help me perceive the situation differently so I can come out of my emotional instability.
