The course outcomes have been beneficial in different ways. They have helped me to meet several program outcomes, and one of the major program outcomes is patient-centered care that is grounded on holistic health principles (Brandl, Schneid, Tsunoda, S. & Awdishu, 2019).
The program paid much attention to the contribution of nurses to the healthcare sector. The readings that were consulted during the course touched on patient-centered care, and some of the advantages that come with the practice.
Nurses are professionals who have more obligations than treating and attending to patients. A nurse is supposed to focus on the overall recovery of a patient. The course helped to understand that patient-centered care is the only way to increase patient satisfaction levels.
The evolution that has been taking place in the healthcare sector continues to change the ways of doing things. Practices that have no extended benefits in healthcare continue to become irrelevant and intolerable in the healthcare sector. The primary purpose of the course materials is to equip nursing students with knowledge and skills that are related to modern health needs.
The course has taught students more about the essentiality of embracing holistic methods of treatment. When people take the nursing course, the primary focus is on the skills that help them to become competent and efficient nurses. However, upon commencing the nursing course, students realize that the professionals offer more knowledge about ensuring that the health of a patient is viewed from a holistic perspective.
For example, when a nurse is attending to a patient, he or she should consider the religious beliefs of the patient. If a patient believes that a younger nurse should not see his or her nakedness, it is the obligation of the nurse to offer privacy to the patient. Additionally, this course provided me with clinical cases knowledge, plan of care for management of diseases, side effects of medication and appropriate use of first line of therapy to treat disease.
Personally, my favorite assignments were the Grounds part I and II because it gave the opportunity to research about CAP and learn more about this condition, medical management and ethical and financial barriers when treating this condition. It also allow me to obtain clinical knowledge about signs and symptom of the disease, pathology of this condition and different options for treatments.
The course materials have helped to understand the advantages of viewing the health of a patient from a holistic perspective. The health of a person is affected and dictated by many factors. The course materials made it clear that it is vital for a nurse to focus on all factors that affect the health of a person.
Leaving behind some of the critical factors might promote the recurrence of an illness (Brandl et al. 2019). In summary, the course increased my critical thinking, knowledge and bedside skills that are paramount to enhancing the quality of care. Course readings and external sources comprise of the resources that I consulted to benefit from the course.

Nursing is one of the professions that are deeply rooted in the beliefs of promoting a healthy population. The belief is not only embraced by practitioners, but it is taught in nursing colleges. The course outcomes have been of great help because they have increased my knowledge of matters pertaining to promoting a healthy population.
One of the most important lessons that have been passed to me during the course is that prevention is the most suitable approach to dealing with illnesses. The costs might be lower, and the benefits might be significant.
The course materials have helped me to understand the role that a nurse should play in preventing illnesses. Nurses are equipped with rich and relevant knowledge that allows them to stand in the gap and help members of the public to avoid specific diseases.
The course has enlightened me that a nurse is not only an agent of treatment but also an advisor and teacher. A nurse is supposed to utilize the knowledge that he or she has acquired in the education sector to help members of his or her community. For example, a nurse can initiate a learning program to promote awareness of health issues that might be affecting members of the community.
There is a close connection between clinical prevention and population health, and this is according to course materials. The link comes in place because the prevention of illnesses affects the health of members of the community. When there are measures in place that help to prevent diseases, the quality of life increases by a significant margin because the health or the members of society is improved.
It is, therefore, apparent that the course helped me to understand more about the need to focus on prevention initiatives. The outcomes of the course have helped me to realize that I am obligated to ensure that the health of a population is improved. The course helps to understand that a nurse is not an only practitioner but a guardian angel of the health of the people that he or she serves.
Improving health is the obligation of each healthcare practitioner who is in practice. However, there is always a dire need to remind healthcare practitioners of some of the commitments they have. The course does not only equip nurses with technical and practical skills, but it also instills virtues and principles that are relevant and pivotal in the healthcare sector. I have been able to identify some of the most significant methods and techniques for improving the health of members of society.
Nurses are paramount in healthcare, and nursing courses are supposed to increase knowledge among nurses. With the help of the course lectures and materials, I have learned how to treat diseases and how to plan for care. My knowledge to treat diseases has extended to chronic diseases.
The course has helped me to know the seriousness of an issue and apply the best care plans and strategies. I have also learned the best way to diagnose and administer the most suitable medications to patients who are brought to my attention.
In the process of administering medication, I was able to learn more about drugs and the side effects that might be present. The course helped to understand some of the factors that may trigger side effects and the best ways to eliminate side effects. I have gained more knowledge about therapeutic use, and I have been able to understand the need to administer prohibited drugs and the procedures to follow before doing so.
Some of the prohibited drugs are essential for the recovery process of the patients, but there are laws that guide practitioners on the best ways to use the drugs. The course has helped me to understand the legal restrictions and aspects of administering prohibited drugs.
The course passed a lot of contraindication knowledge, and now I am able to know the best methods of treatment. I have learned that there are different methods of treatments that might have negative impacts on patients, and therefore, there is an essential need to choose wisely. When it comes to side effects, the course has helped to know more about different types of side effects.
I am able to differentiate between normal, abnormal, and adverse side effects. The course also shares knowledge about the essentiality of educating patients on how to comply with different legal aspects in healthcare. Administering doses has become something easy for me, and the course is responsible for instilling the knowledge in me.
The course has helped me to understand the risks that come with the administration of specific drugs. Before administering any medication, I make sure that I look at the safety of the drugs. In the case of any possible dire consequence, I inform patients. Genes have an impact on the response of the body to certain medications. The course helped me to understand the connections and the best way to make sure that there is harmony between medication and the genes of the patients.

Capable and competent practitioners are responsible for the positive changes that have been realized in the healthcare sector (Ro & Villarreal, 2018). The course has helped by a considerable percentage to know more about the relationship that is present between data and quality of care.
In line with some of the materials that I went through, the data that is presented is essential in healthcare. The best way to improve the health of a person is by focusing on the details of data and interpreting them accurately.
When joining a nursing college, there is a perception that each piece of knowledge and skill is instilled by the professor. However, the truth is that there are skills that students must develop before they start operating on patients. Critical thinking is one of the skills that the course emphasized.
In this respect, it is evident that the course helped me to become a practitioner who can think and operate outside the box in the case of any emergency. Given the fact that not all cases and operations in the healthcare sector are planned or premeditated, there is a dire need for a nurse to critically evaluate situations and make the most suitable decisions.
The course outcomes helped me to understand more about the essentiality of evidence-based care. According to some of the course readings, evidence-based care is paramount because it increases the chances of effectiveness.
For example, when one uses medicine that has proven to work previously, there are high chances that the patient will recover from the condition. Without fear of doubt, the course has increased confidence and courage in me, and I am able to assess health issues with an open mind. I have become better than I was before joining the course.
