DQ1: Individuals looking for internet connectivity when they are in various locations may choose to connect to any available wireless networks that are within range and do not require a wireless network key. Just because a wireless network is within range and does not require a wireless network key, is it okay to connect to that network? Why or why not? In response to peers, discuss when it is okay and not okay to use public wireless networks.
DQ2: When we go somewhere my children always connect to the internet to play games. Is this still okay or can they still get hacked by just playing games from their phones? Can a hacker get any of my information since I am using my hotspot and they are doing the wifi access? Can I teach my children that being more alert and or finding games that do not require as much wifi can be helpful what else can I tell them?
DQ3: Choose the two types of social media that you use the most. Approximately how many hours per day do you spend on them? What role do they play in your life? What do you find are the advantages and disadvantages of using them? Overall, do you see them as a net plus or a net minus in your life? In response to peers, discuss competing or other social media platforms that they could use instead of the ones they are using and why.
DQ4: When individuals set up a home or small business network, they might use wireless technology instead of a wired network because wireless networks are easier and often less expensive to install. What are some situations where setting up a wireless network might be risky?
DQ5: When installing and configuring a wireless network, what steps should you take to secure the network? Why is each step necessary?
DQ6: Serena Lopez was just hired by a small accounting firm to set up a computer network in their new office. The accounting firm has ten employees, and each employee uses either a desktop or laptop computer. Based on your knowledge from this module, would you recommend setting up a client/server network or a peer-to-peer (P2P) network? Justify your recommendation using the concepts you have learned in this module.
DQ7: You are preparing a report to discuss net neutrality. Based on your knowledge from this module and additional Internet research, decide whether you are in favor of or against net neutrality. Provide several arguments for or against this topic to include in this report, and justify why net neutrality is or is not beneficial.
DQ8: You have installed a wireless network at your house, but all of a sudden your computers and devices are unable to connect to the network. What steps might you take to troubleshoot the problem and correct it so that connectivity is restored?
