The Meanings of KSAs

KSAs are the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the tasks of a job. Knowledge is the education and information used for a job and organized sets of principles and facts applying in general domains. Skills are learned proficiencies in areas and developed capacities that facilitate learning or the more rapid acquisition of knowledge.

It includes basic skills, complex problem-solving skills, resource management skills, social skills, system skills, and technical skills. Abilities are inherent aptitudes of a candidate and enduring attributes of the individual that influence performance. It includes cognitive abilities, physical abilities, psychomotor abilities, and sensory abilities.

3 Job Zone:

At the website, click “Job Zone” link on the top horizontal menu. Copy the first line under the Job Zone to your homework template, (e.g., Job Zone Four: Considerable Preparation Needed).

4 Projected Growth (2019-2029) (find info from the website):

At the website, click “Wages & Employment” link on the top horizontal menu and copy the information to your homework template, (for example, Average 3% to 4%).

6 Choose one item under KNOWLEDGE (not under Skills or Abilities) with a score of 60 or higher that is your strength:

You need to write 8-12 lines (not 8-12 sentences) in an essay format. Choose ONE of the two options to write this section:

First option: If you learned this knowledge from college work, you first list 1-2 course titles you took and where you took; and then explains what you learned about this specific knowledge you picked. Need to address part (if not all) of the definition of the knowledge.

Second option: If you learned this knowledge from work or internship experience, you need to describe your job tasks and what you learned from your work experience about this particular knowledge you picked. Need to address part (if not all) of the definition of the knowledge.

9 List one scholarly journal’s name:

Simply list one academic and scholarly journal’s name, which is related to the knowledge or to the job you picked above, e.g., Management Review. It cannot be a magazine or newspaper such as Fortune, Forbes, Times, or Wall Street Journal. Don’t put an article title or a book name here.

10 List one association’s name in your job field:

Simply put an association name that you are in now or consider to join in the future (e.g., Lawyers Association). This association needs to relate to your job field or the knowledge you chose above. It is not a company name or industry.

11 Choose one item under SKILLS (Not under Knowledge or Abilities) with a score of 60 or higher that is your weakness:

Choose one item with a score of 60 or higher under Skills that is your weakness, and copy the importance score and definition. For example: Score: 72 Definition: Reading Comprehension – Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

12 Weakness Assessment (8-12 lines in one paragraph) ：
