The “Story of You” and Resume Organization
Part 1: Begin writing the “story of you,”. Writing your story is a beneficial exercise that prompts student to think about where their current success, past accomplishments and goals. Look at the example of “My Story” on p. 516 in your textbook. Write YOUR story. Use these headings:

Where I Am Now
Where I Want to Be
As the textbook states, this is meant to be a personal document that will likely be used to create job search documents. Start by creating the document for yourself. Share with the group the information that you are comfortable posting. Think in terms of what you plan to use in your job search documents.
Part 2: Examine the three main ways to organize a resume. Pay special attention to the Organizing Your Resume Around Your Strength section of the textbook. Select the way you plan to organize your resume based on your goals, background and areas of concern. Share the resume organization that you selected as well as the rationale for selecting that organization style.
