Media Parenting Summary Assignment
Each student will view a total of two television episodes (it needs to be 2 different series) that portray families with young children.
You should use either comedies or reality shows about families with YOUNG children. Shows that are focused mainly on teens, such as “Life of an American Teenager” are not suitable. Examples include: The Bill Cosby Show, Everyone Loves Raymond, Modern Family, Wife Swap, Nanny 911, Supernanny, Toddlers and Tiaras, Parenthood, The Goldbergs, The Middle, Trophy Wife, About a Boy, Major Dad, The Fosters, The Brady Bunch.
Organize your paper into the topics listed below and bold the topics with the information under each. Use the following format to summarize each program.

Parenting Styles and Interactions: Analyze the sitcom using Baumrind’s parenting styles (read information about these styles in the text, powerpoint and handouts). Identify which of Baumrind’s parenting styles are being used by the adults and why you chose this. What kind of interactions do you see with the families?
