The purpose of this paper is to examine leadership qualities through a political psychology lens.  Write as if you are a Political Psychologist.  Choose a world leader.  You are going to observe, analyze and evaluate this leader.

-Review the chapter on leadership and personality-Houghton Ch 8 (I attached the personality chapter as a pdf below in the files! It’s chapter 8: Personality and Beliefs pg 101-113)

-Who is the leader that you are going to discuss?  What party are they running with?

-What is the background and history of the leader?  Experience?

-Why is the leader in their position?  Look at their website

-What is the leader’s leadership style?  Observe the leader in a recent debate.

-Based on your observations, how does the leader talk about themselves?  What would you say their leadership style is?

-How do other people talk about the leader?  Both supporters and opponents.

-How is the leader currently doing in the polls?  Why is the leader displaying these poll numbers?

-Explain and interpret the leader’s leadership style with examples.

-Evaluate the leader’s style.  What works and what does not work in their leadership style?

-How do you define an effective president? As a president, what would make this leader an effective president?  What would make them ineffective?

-Include relevant information, but limit your scope of information.  You have to continually ask yourself: is this a NEED to know piece of information, or just interesting to know.

-When choosing a leader-Choose someone that is interesting to you or choose someone you want to know more about.  Consider choosing a leader from the opposite political party as you. Really take some time to decide on a leader.
