This reading is about a demonstration for freedom in the history of the United States. The reading argues that even after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, black Americans are yet to be free a hundred years later. The structure of the reading is very organized because points are logically organized in a manner that is easy to comprehend.
The author begins by identifying the key topic which is freedom and identifies why freedom for black Americans is yet to be achieved. The style of writing of the author supports his purpose. This is because he utilizes the persuasive style where he attempts to state his opinion and influence others using examples (Coleman, 2018). Utilizing the words “I have a dream” makes the reading even more persuasive.
The author is able to indicate all the things that he wishes to see in the future in regards to the freedom of black Americans. His writing style entirely supports his purpose which is to champion for the freedom and rights of the black community.
The introduction of the reading clearly identifies the topic to be discussed.
