Case study – Ethics applied to the workplace
Good, ethical behaviour in terms of research is no different to ordinary good, ethical behaviour. We all have a set of rules we must follow when we study at an institution or work for a company. Sometimes these rules are at odds with the moral ethics involved in being a good human being. But issues such as protecting the young and sick, saving lives, not hurting people, looking after the best interests of others, being fair – these are all highly desirable human qualities that are not rules as such, more moral codes that people try to live by. The following scenarios illustrate ethical problems in a variety of contexts.
