Students are to interview a human service provider/social work at a nursing home or assisted living facility in their community. Students are to assess the factors influencing substance use in this population, the types of substances this population tend to use, the prevalence in the center, how does the nursing home/assisted living facility address accommodations (refer else where, offer assistance, etc.), what are their policies on patient substance use, what are the risk factors in housing elders with substance use issues, and assess treatment for substance use with this population.
