Communication scholars believe that the best way to determine a person’s cultural identity is by a person’s language dialect on a deep structural (emotional) level.

PART I: Using demographic variables, identify your cultural identity by selecting the five demographic variables that most strongly define the language dialect of the cultural group you belong. Create a table that exemplifies and defines each demographic variable in relation to your culture’s dialect.

PART II: Apply Altman and Taylor’s social penetration theory by creating a cultural continuum (onion model) that uses labels to show the culture’s different levels of commitment (cultural salience) demonstrated by a person’s fluency and knowledge of the language dialect.

PART III: Also, recount a time when you engaged in groupthink with one of your ethnic/cultural groups. Any models or diagrams will not count against the word count.
