Small Business WAN- When it comes to a small business WAN you need to first check the area of the business and chose a router that is strong enough for the network range and specifications set by the internet provider. Any business should have multiple routers to widen the range and also gain reliability. With all the devices that are on the network, the business should also have switches to tie the office spaces/ computer setups together within the network. Password for the network is a must like any other private network. Make sure all the computers have an anti-virus that is up to date on them.
Medium Corporate WAN- When it comes to corporate WANs added security would be beneficial to the network. At this point, you would want to include a VPN (although its beneficial to have this on any business network as the business grows it becomes a bigger target). At this point, commercial routers with built-in security would be better due to the fact more devices could securely connect to it. Switches would be bigger with more ports so that this can have added computers on the network if necessary. Internet should be upgraded to fit the network congestion that may be experienced on this network. You would want to have multiple routers to support the users on the network. A good password is a must for this network set up. Now, if it is a public business you may want to invest in a router that is a strict must for public users, this will keep network congestion down. In addition, you may want to add a business grade anti-virus.
Enterprise MAN- When it comes to an enterprise connection reliability and security will be a big thing. Devices should have anti-viruses on them that are business grade. When it comes to the routers you may want to invest in one that’s will meet the needs of the many network devices that are on the network. VPN would be a highly recommended on this type of big network, a private and public network would help with network congestion and allow for users that are on the private network to do what is needed securely. At this point, a server with an antivirus on it would highly recommend acting as a backup to the computers instructor and to securely share information on the network.
What network optimization tools, methods, or techniques do you think will be most important to you as you manage your organization’s network? Explain why?
When it comes to optimizing the network, I believe that the best technique to use is the organization. Organization within the hardware and software setups on the computer will create an optimal network. While the company grows to have multiple access systems within the network would be beneficial just-in-case a router or switch does bad the company devices have something else they can count on as a back-up. Desk set-up and work station set-ups should be organized and labeled so when something goes wrong finding the issuing device is easy and being able to get the access point would be easy.

I would use a LAN for the small business or home office style set up. This is simply setup with basically just a router and a few different computers. You can usually get plenty of capacity out of a normal home type router for up to 10 devices.
For a Medium Corporate, I would definitely want something more redundant and with good security, it would be good to have a main firewall, switch and multiple routers in case of failures. I would set up a MAN for this network. For the largest network, you would choose the WAN. You will want something that can carry 100s of users and store information within the network. Security will be a must and you will likely want a whole IT team, security cameras, firewalls, server rooms, etc.
It will be a good idea to organize your network from the start, label all physical connections and lines. When setting up computer names, enter as much device information and location information as possible. This way, when you have an issue, you will have all the information you will need. Security is a big thing in this day and time, a team of dedicated individuals for security will be a good idea on any network.
