Kevin Serrano : Hello everyone, I wanted to start off by saying how I’ve been really enjoying both readings essentially the lecture videos. It might just be me, but I do find at times slight cloudiness when it comes to the readings within the text, but when viewing the videos, it essentially really helps me establish the key concepts and configurating with the key points and topics are within the sections that we have been assigned to each week. Essentially this week’s, I enjoyed and really learned a lot from theorist Adam Smith when he was explaining the different divisions of Labor and many occupational establishments.
One quote that really stuck with me was when he stated, “what is the work of one man in a rude state of society, being generally that of several and an improved one” (5). This quote stuck with me because of how it explains the rapidity in which some of the operations of those manufacturers are performed, would exceed what a human hand can do. He’s explaining how the variation and ratio of one of three workers utilizes a task in a work environment. With better machinery and supplies for a resource environment configurates rates less manpower in the labor conceptual mindset. Thank you all for listening. Write a comment for him …..
Discussion Question :
Marx: “German Ideology” and Bratton (71-75, 113-114) (2nd: 75-81, 120-121)
What point does Marx make in the preface with his example of drowning due to the non-belief in gravity?
What are the first premises of a materialist method? What does Marx mean by the mode of production being a definite “mode of life”?
If Marx offers a “direct contrast to German philosophy which descends from heaven to earth,” what is it that he argues for instead?
“The ideas of the ruling class are in every epoch the ruling ideas, i.e., the class which is the ruling material force of society, is at the same time its ruling intellectual force.” What does Marx mean by this? Answer this question…

Alexandra Lugo : I wanted to share that my favorite reading from unit one was Karl Marx’s “German Ideology”. I really enjoyed this reading because it shows how power is maintained within our society in all shapes and forms; even in our ideas/beliefs. That is to say, the ideas that circulate in society are not neutral, rather they reflect the ideology advanced by the ruling class. This was a great read that explains how the capitalist class continues to profit, control, and define the reality for all members within a society. Write a comment for her
