Please reply to this student for me. I need a response in 60 hours.Student: JENNIFER CStress in our 21st century has become unmanageable for many people. Often times, without being raised with tools to address emotional pain, people will resort to medicating emotional pain rather than dealing with it. One of the ways to do that is through substance use. Dr. Emmett Miller, the father of mind/body medicine, teaches we live primarily with type 2 accumulated stress in our lives, that ultimately is the cause of many of our diseases (You Tube, 2008). As stress levels continue to build inside us, rather than recovering from each stress cycle, substance use is a way to provide a temporary escape. One of the ways to mitigate stress and intentionally create the recovery stage we need, following a stressful event, is through mindfulness. Relaxation is so important for our bodies to regain the balance necessary to restore homeostasis. The goal of mindfulness is to wake up the inner world of our mental, emotional and physical processes so we are aware of what’s happening inside us. As our awareness increases, we can become a witness to what’s happening, learn to non-judgmentally accept where we are and then seek the help we might need. It creates space for us to show up kindly toward ourselves rather than avoiding what’s inside, through substance use. “Mindfulness-based interventions are effective in improving distress tolerance through teaching skills to reduce individuals’ perceived stress or feelings of crisis and increasing a sense of agency and self-regulatory efficacy” (Russell et al., 2019). By learning to identify and address what’s happening inside, a person would hopefully have less need for turning to substances to escape their world.Another positive step toward health, for someone struggling with substance use, would be to find social support that encourages better choices. Feeling isolated and alone can contribute toward someone using substances to cope. Studies overwhelmingly show people who have a close-knit network of intimate personal ties with other people seem to avoid disease and deal more successfully with life’s difficulties (Keith et al. 2014). One of my favorite groups is Celebrate Recovery. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind. It is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our life (Celebrate Recovery, 2020). Finding community is key to our health and wholeness.ReferencesCelebrate Recovery: A Christ-centered 12 Step Program. (2020). What is Celebrate Recovery? There is a review of important theoretical literature, however there is limited integration of research into problem-related ideas. The review is just partly focused and arranged. There is research that both supports and opposes. A summary of the material given is provided. The conclusion may or may not include a biblical integration. |

The content is somewhat ordered, but there is no discernible organization. The use of typeface, color, graphics, effects, and so on may sometimes distract from the presenting substance. It is possible that the length criteria will not be reached. |
