The history of utilization of rocket flying extends for more than 2000 years, in ancient China. The first man dares to fire the rocket powered with black powder in a condition where there was no parachute or protection of any kind. He died for it, but he succeeded to make the fantasy of flying come true.
Recorded first “astronaut” ever being lifted by rocket into outer space – Wan hu, 2000 BC
Nazi Germany saw the possibilities of using long-distance rockets as weapons. The first explosion of V-2 missile on London launched the space age4 After WWII, US and Soviet Union started their own missile programs
In the 1930s and 1940s
– Until latter half of the 20th century, rockets were developed that were powerful to overcome the force of gravity to reach orbital velocities – It paved the way for practical space exploration to become a reality
On Oct. 4, 1957 the Soviets launched the first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1, into space. On Jan. 31, 1958 The first U.S. satellite, Explorer 1, went into orbit. On April 12, 1961 Russian Lt. Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit Earth in Vostok 1. Same Year Alan Shepard became the first American to fly into space.
All those years of conquers
Along with the progress of Apollo Progress, astronaut Neil Armstrong took “one giant leap for mankind” as he stepped onto the moon. It is a historic moment to human civilization; it symbolized the breakthrough of human kinds being able to step out of their planet to practically explore the space
On July 20, 1969
-Orbiting communications and navigation satellites were being popularized -The Mariner spacecraft was orbiting and mapping the surface of Mars -By the end of the decade, the Voyager spacecraft had sent back detailed images of Jupiter and Saturn, their rings, and their moons.
Age of expansion – 1970s
Skylab, America’s first space station, was a human-spaceflight highlight of the 1970s, as was the Apollo Soyuz Test Project, the world’s first internationally crewed (American and Russian) space mission.
Highlight of 1970s
In April 1981 the launch of the space shuttle Columbia ushered in a period of reliance on the reusable shuttle for most civilian and military space missions The Space Shuttle was the first reusable spacecraft to carry people into orbit – launch, recover, and repair satellites; conduct cutting-edge research; and help build the International Space Station

The station has been continuously occupied since the arrival of Expedition 1 in November of 2000. It was serviced by a variety of visiting aircraft, it has been visited by astronauts, cosmonauts, and space tourists from 17 different nations. Until now, other nations are possessing their own launch systems
Modern space exploration is reaching areas once only dreamed about. The exploration of space keeps expanding our knowledge of outer space and further we venture, the more we know how insignificant we are comparing to this whole universe This is a long journey for human being’s expedition, one day, the interplanetary travel will become reality as how we accomplished the exploration in the past.
