Servant leadership would be the best approach to take if I were a leader with vision. It is because servant leadership encourages teamwork where the leader seeks to involve others in decision making, is strongly based in ethical & caring behaviors, and is attempting to enhance the personal growth of followers while improving the quality of institution (Spears, & Lawrence, 2016). The leader is primarily to serve people who are affected by the institution.

The leader inspires followers by being the role model, listening empathetically; creating healing environment as needed, has conceptualization & foresight, and committed to the growth of people along with organization (Spears, & Lawrence, 2016). In nursing, teamwork is the most for achieving even a minor, as patient care is impossible without a multidisciplinary team approach.

When it comes to both leadership and management, managers are usually a part of an organization while “leaders obtain power through influence gained by empowering others and directing followers who are willing” (Whiney, S. 2018). Anyone can become a leader if they have the proper work skills and is able to perform but in order for someone to become a manager, they would need a certain amount of education alone with clinical experience.

The goals of both overlap during visionary and futuristic thinking of long-term events. An example would be a charge nurse informing their manager of staffing issues in order to receive proper coverage for the unit. Being so new to the field I would facilitate change first by being aware and understanding the current laws related to health care. I would want to make sure patients are safe and my staff is protected.
