**The project plan and major paper should conform to APA format, 7thedition. Times New Roman is preferred, 12 font. Note that an abstract is NOT required with the proposal.
The proposal should be started in the MSN major template which is available at: http://ric.libguides.com/msnresources (select the “MSN Major Paper…” tab).
**Please note that these are general guidelines and may need to be modified based on the type of project. In general, major components of the project plan include:
Background and significance/statement of the problem (literature based): the statement of the problem is a succinct, concise section that describes why this project is significant. In this section, the writer strives to identify the problem to be solved and to convince the reader why this is a problem that is important to investigate.
End this section with a statement of the purpose. The purpose is generally a single, succinct sentence that captures the essence of the project and the method, key variables, the target sample and setting.
Review and critique of the literature: complete a comprehensive assessment of the relevant literature. Note databases searched and keywords used. Present an overview and critique of the literature. You should include all major relevant topic areas, identified with subheadings, and organized from broad to specific, narrowing down and ending with the topic of interest. Cite sources consistently throughout, and document findings with data. Avoid use of secondary sources.
Theoretical framework(s): Identify the framework(s) that will guide the implementation of the project. Be sure to include literature from the framework’s author/developer. Methodology/process for implementation: (guidelines for the section will vary for systematic review or state of the science paper: see specific guidelines)
Purpose/question: restate the purpose.
Design: identify the design that will be used. What are the key variables?
Sample: who are the proposed participants?
Site: Where project will take place;
Procedures: how will the project be carried out: specify what will occur and who will
complete the activities specified;
Measurement: what measurement will be used to measure variables;
Specify the anticipated timeframe;
Organizational/systems factors; exploration of resources; enabling factors and barriers What are the desired outcomes; how will outcomes be measured?
Identification of actual/potential ethical concerns, diversity implications; need for
IRB review
Evaluation plan: specify how the project will be evaluated. Plan for dissemination
**Refer also to guidelines for specific project types, which begin on p. 15.
*Once the project proposal is satisfactorily completed, it should be transferred into the
major project template, which is described in detail in the NURS 609 syllabus

Excellent Quality
95-100%
|
Introduction
45-41 points The context and relevance of the issue, as well as a clear description of the study aim, are presented. The history of searches is discussed. |
Literature Support
91-84 points The context and relevance of the issue, as well as a clear description of the study aim, are presented. The history of searches is discussed. |
Methodology
58-53 points With titles for each slide as well as bulleted sections to group relevant information as required, the content is well-organized. Excellent use of typeface, color, images, effects, and so on to improve readability and presenting content. The minimum length criterion of 10 slides/pages is reached. |
Average Score
50-85% |
40-38 points
More depth/information is required for the context and importance, otherwise the study detail will be unclear. There is no search history information supplied. |
83-76 points
There is a review of important theoretical literature, however there is limited integration of research into problem-related ideas. The review is just partly focused and arranged. There is research that both supports and opposes. A summary of the material given is provided. The conclusion may or may not include a biblical integration. |
52-49 points
The content is somewhat ordered, but there is no discernible organization. The use of typeface, color, graphics, effects, and so on may sometimes distract from the presenting substance. It is possible that the length criteria will not be reached. |
Poor Quality
0-45% |
37-1 points
The context and/or importance are lacking. There is no search history information supplied. |
75-1 points
There has been an examination of relevant theoretical literature, but still no research concerning problem-related concepts has been synthesized. The review is just somewhat focused and organized. The provided overview of content does not include any supporting or opposing research. The conclusion has no scriptural references. |
48-1 points
There is no logical or apparent organizational structure. There is no discernible logical sequence. The use of typeface, color, graphics, effects, and so on often detracts from the presenting substance. It is possible that the length criteria will not be reached. |
