COs 1, 2 and 3 are now approved and ready to go. But in CO4 it is not clear what you will actually be producing. In CO4 you write: “As a matter of fact, research suggest the only way of making aviation a much safer transport is taking keen consideration in alleviating such human factors through establishing competency, training and garnering of relevant experience.” One of the ways CO4 could be satisfied would be to create a training course like you mention here. But I thought creating a training course for an airline or a flight school was too much work for a Capstone — that is why I suggested that you create a summary or a “catalog” of Human Factors research that has been conducted in the past or is ongoing now. A future airline or flight school manager could then use your Human Factors research summary to create their own training course based on the information about Human Factors in your summary. Go back to the email I sent you on September 3rd. In that email I gave you the website that could be used to compile your Human Factors research catalog.

So here is where we stand today: COs 1, 2, and 3 are ready. The only item remaining is to describe what will be produced in CO4. In CO4 it is not enough to talk about Human Factors and errors of pilots and air traffic controllers – we must create a “product.” A catalog of Human Factors research with summaries of those research projects would meet the requirement for CO4. So consider this suggestion – but remember, I only make suggestions. You will make the final decision on your project’s plan. If you decide not to use the Human Factors catalog idea, that is fine, but whatever you come up with must be some sort of product that will satisfy CO4. Write a revision that leaves COs 1, 2 and 3 just as they are – no revision is needed there. The revision should only change CO4 and include your plan to satisfy CO4. Get that revision back to me as soon as you can

In CO4 we usually create some kind of “product” that can be used in the aviation industry. I am not sure what your plan is for CO4 right now.  we need to focus in on the main topic of the project which has been pilot error accidents.

Here is a suggestion. To help avoid pilot error accidents, you could provide a summary of research that is being conducted in this area. The FAA has an Office of “Aerospace Human Factors Research.”

For your CO4 you could provide a summary of all the research is office has been doing and is doing now. I also found this brochure:

You could list the Human Factors projects that this office has been working on and the results of those projects. I think that plan would better .

All the suggestions that I have made are just that — suggestions. Ultimately this is your project and you have to make the final decisions. You do not have to take my suggestions, but whatever you decide on must meet all the Capstone Outcomes. My job is to make sure your topic covers all the COs and the plan can be completed in the short time we have. Now write a revision to this proposal that strongly considers these suggestions and send that revision back to me as soon as possible
