Shortage of PPE Supply in Healthcare Sector Case Essay
Topic 2 DQ 1
The clinical problem of the organizations I work with in my internship is the practice of infection control, which is a safety concern for both healthcare professionals and the communities in which they serve. The shortage of PPE supply in the healthcare sector and the open market due to the shortage of nurses associated with the COVID19 pandemic is a negative factor in the healthcare industry, increasing the number of cases of COVID19, PPE and infection control and security procedures. It takes time to repair the supplies for. The lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) and its availability are of great concern to caregivers as it involves infection control and safety procedures. The work of clinical nurses and community nurses is associated with direct contact with the patient, which increases the risk of infection for nurses. This also predisposes nurses to be good reservoirs and communicators. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that healthcare professionals wear an N95 mask that filters out airborne particles and small droplets that the patient may have coughed (Wetsman, 2020). For example, the organization I work with distributes only one face mask per nurse per day, even if it requires visiting 56 patients. This led to so many concerns and discomforts, signs of psychological stress associated with the fear of infection, increased use of power take-offs, and calls to inns only to reduce possible exposure rates. .. Increasing caregiver vacation days increases the workload of caregivers on duty, increasing stress, work overload, and burnout. These can have a psychological impact on the lives of these caregivers. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2020, outbreaks of infectious diseases can be stressful. The outbreak of coronavirus infection (COVID19) in 2019 can be stressful for people, especially healthcare professionals and frontliners, causing anxiety and anxiety, overwhelming and evoking strong emotions. Finding ways to deal with stress strengthens the individual.
Recommendation: Make sure you follow infection control standards during care. To reduce irritation, stop watching, reading, and listening to messages that contain constant social media. Coordinating and collaborating with other team members. Participate in training and retraining for individuals and employees regarding infection control. Check for updated infection control procedures and protocols. Eat well and drink a lot. Take a deep breath, stretch, and exercise regularly. Get plenty of sleep and rest. Avoid alcohol and drugs. Participate in other activities and pray constantly. (Psalms 5:11 and 16: 1) is a strong trust in God’s protection. Prevent the spread of infection, stand strong mainly and ensure safety.
During your practicum, determine what clinical problem or issue the organization is facing. Discuss two implications for nursing.
