Over the course of the semester, you have had the opportunity to submit many pieces of writing, allowing you to grow and learn as a technical and professional writer. In memo format, please reflect on your growth during the semester. You will want to consider your early expectations, things you have learned, your grade progression, and what you now know about writing certain types of technical and professional documents.

You might begin the memo by discussing your expectations for the semester. What did you think would happen throughout the semester? What did you know or not know about professional writing before you started the class? How were these expectations met or not throughout the semester? You could then go on to describe your process with the different large assignments in the course.

Another area to address might be your grades and feedback. You might have had an instance where you weren’t happy about a grade you received in the course. How did you handle that? Were you able to take the feedback and apply it or did the unexpected grade cause you to be derailed from your progress in the course?

The questions and options listed above are simply ways to get you started thinking on how to reflect on your own writing. You do not need to answer all of the questions and your memo should definitely not just be a series of answers to questions.
