Effective team management
Simon Discussion Week 3 (Chapters 3 & 4):
Discussion 1:
In these chapters what’s talked about is the importance of having a healthy, effective and collaborative environment in the organization. With a healthy and collaborative working environment you are more likely to be more productive and the company will benefit from it in the long run. Do you think that companies are able to increase productivity improving how they manage institutional knowledge? How can you tell if the organization you work for is healthy or not? What are some factors that could lead to a unhealthy organization?
In chapter 4 it talks about how email allows anyone in the world to contact you and how email benefits from a powerful network effect. It also talks about how with email if you make a mistake you most likely have to reply to your own email and correct your mistake. Do you think contemporary collaboration hubs will be beneficial? Being that email allows just about anyone in the world to contact you do you think email was designed for collaboration?
Discussion 2:
The big idea that is talked about in these chapters are how important collaboration is in a organization or in your job. He mentions that having a heathy collaborative organization you are more likely to be profitable and effective collaborations creates different benefits within the organization. What would be some benefits that effective collaborations brings to an organization?
To go along the same lines of the effective collaboration the book mentions organizational health. What would be some different ways a organization can bring organizational health to the work environment? Then what are some things that could possibly cause some problems with organizational health within a organization?
