Assignment Details:

• For this assignment, create a design for a secure messaging infrastructure.
• The solution must have the capability for both email and instant messaging.
• You can choose any system, server, client, and security appliance or software that you know about or can find information about from any appropriate source.
• Your design may be real or notional.

• The only rule about using any component is that you must explain how it contributes to the security of your email system and what, if any, drawbacks or limitations it has.

• Visio diagram of your logical infrastructure
• One-page Executive Summary that explains the major components, their functions, and capabilities/limitations. Include protection against spam, spyware, and phishing emails in your infrastructure.

[Note: If you’re unfamiliar with the Executive Summary format, I suggest performing an Internet search on that term.  There are may good examples.]

Define its applicability to the security profession

Each student submits a 10 page (minimum less title and reference pages), double-spaced paper written in MS-Word and APA format examining one of the contemporary issues discussed during this course in detail.  A reference page must follow the text (5-7 sources). An abstract is not desired. ENSURE the assignment is at least 10 pages of written text without excessive spacing. Again, cover page and references is not considered a page. In addition, ensure you have a running header and page numbers on the upper right.

The paper must identify the following:

The contemporary issue (define it)

Discuss the issue from at least two viewpoints (comparison and contrast)

Define its applicability to the security profession

Provide a summation
