Current issues and trends in Criminal Justice
The criminal justice system is an integral part of any society and must function effectively and fairly. Over the years, several issues and trends have emerged in the criminal justice field that has caused concern among the general public, lawmakers, and other stakeholders. Marijuana legalization, sentencing disparities, and human trafficking are three important and current issues in the field of Criminal Justice (Cole et al., 2021). These issues bring forth various challenges and questions that must be addressed and examined. The legalization of marijuana, the prevalence of sentencing disparities, and the increasing number of human trafficking cases require a critical examination of the criminal justice system to address the challenges and promote justice, equality, and public safety. Marijuana legalization is a growing trend in many states and countries. Proponents of legalization argue that it can reduce crime associated with the black market for marijuana, generate tax revenue, and increase access to medical marijuana for patients in need. On the other hand, opponents of legalization argue that it can increase drug use and drug-related crime, harm public health and lead to increased drugged driving incidents (Stohr et al., 2020). There is a need to examine the impact of legalization on crime rates, drug use patterns, and public safety. Moreover, the issue of whether or not to legalize marijuana also raises questions about drug policy and the criminal justice system’s role in regulating drugs. Sentencing disparities are another ongoing issue in Criminal Justice. It refers to the unequal treatment of individuals within the criminal justice system, particularly with regard to the length and severity of punishment imposed for similar crimes. Sentencing disparities can occur for various reasons, including race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, and geographical location. The fact that individuals from minority communities and lower socioeconomic backgrounds receive longer sentences for similar crimes than those from privileged communities highlights the need to address this issue (Kovera, 2019). The unequal treatment can result in individuals from certain groups receiving harsher punishments for similar crimes, leading to a disproportionate number of individuals from these groups being incarcerated. It is important to examine the root causes of these disparities and work towards creating a more just and equitable criminal justice system. Human trafficking is a global issue that continues to be a growing concern. It involves exploiting individuals for labor and sexual purposes, often through force, fraud, or coercion. Victims of human trafficking are often lured with false promises of good jobs, education, or better living conditions. Once in the hands of traffickers, they are subjected to physical and emotional abuse, and their movement is restricted. They are often denied food, water, and medical care and are forced to work long hours without pay. In the case of sexual exploitation, victims are forced into prostitution or forced to perform sexual acts (Farrell et al., 2019). Human trafficking is a complex issue that requires a multi-disciplinary approach, and Criminal Justice professionals must have a strong understanding of the issue and the role that the criminal justice system plays in addressing it. In conclusion, the criminal justice system faces various challenges related to marijuana legalization, sentencing disparities, and human trafficking. These are complex and significant issues that have the potential to impact individuals, communities, and society as a whole. Addressing these issues requires a thorough understanding of the challenges and implications of each and a commitment to promoting fairness and equality in the criminal justice system. By examining and discussing these issues, it is possible to promote positive change and work towards a more just and equitable system for all.

More depth/information is required for the context and importance, otherwise the study detail will be unclear. There is no search history information supplied. |
83-76 points
There is a review of important theoretical literature, however there is limited integration of research into problem-related ideas. The review is just partly focused and arranged. There is research that both supports and opposes. A summary of the material given is provided. The conclusion may or may not include a biblical integration. |
52-49 points
The content is somewhat ordered, but there is no discernible organization. The use of typeface, color, graphics, effects, and so on may sometimes distract from the presenting substance. It is possible that the length criteria will not be reached. |
Poor Quality

37-1 points
The context and/or importance are lacking. There is no search history information supplied. |
75-1 points
There has been an examination of relevant theoretical literature, but still no research concerning problem-related concepts has been synthesized. The review is just somewhat focused and organized. The provided overview of content does not include any supporting or opposing research. The conclusion has no scriptural references. |
48-1 points
There is no logical or apparent organizational structure. There is no discernible logical sequence. The use of typeface, color, graphics, effects, and so on often detracts from the presenting substance. It is possible that the length criteria will not be reached. |
