Obesity can be defined as a condition in which a huge amount of body fats accommodate in human body, a normal amount of body fats is necessary for the human being to live a healthy life but exceeding the amount of body fats over the limit is a cause of concern for the human being.
These body fats can be a cause of a number of diseases associated with obesity. These diseases not only limited to a specific region of the body or to a specific body organ but causes problem in almost every part and every organ of the body. Due to the reason of such a great number of diseases being caused by obesity, it is also a cause of concern for the economy of the county.
Obesity can be linked with the economy of the country in the sense that the government have to spend billions every year to provide the necessary medical assistance to those facing health issue as a result of obesity. This concept not only linked to the economy but also have a linkage with the ethics and culture. We will be focusing on these links in the paper.
According to the statistics provided in the year 2015, a total of about 600 million adults are obese and about 100 million children are obese. This makes about 15% of the overall population of the world. These numbers are increasing exponentially since then.
This can also be stated that out of every 7 individuals, 1 is obese. Such a large number of individual facing the same problem around the world is definitely a cause of concern. Such a problem have effects on a number of things such as ethical concerns and cultural concerns.
There are a number of papers which have talked about obesity with special focus on the obesity in children. The focus is basically on the increasing number of obese individuals during the past 3 decades with the special focus on children (Debbie, 2010). Stating the facts that the number of increasing rapidly with a number of health concerns for such obese children. These problems are listed as diabetes type 2, health problems, joints problems, breathing disorders and digestive system disorders.
Some of the individuals have also made prediction of the increasing number of obese individuals on earth (A.Finkelstein, 2012). Such that the number of individuals at the end of every year are being recorded. These number were used by the following paper in order to predict the number of obese individuals by the year 2030.
This paper had to goal to present a clear picture of increasing number of obese individuals to the governments to make necessary arrangements. These results are shown in the form of the following graphs.
Figure 1: Increasing rate of obesity.
Obesity can be precisely explained as the accommodation of body fats above the described limit (Fact sheet, 2016). Such an accommodation of body fats causes negative effects on health of a human individual. This is measure by using a value named as BMI. BMI refers to the term Body Mass Index.
This can be calculated by dividing the weight of a human individual by the square of the height of that individual. A range of about 25-30 kg/ is considered as overweight in a number of countries. However some Asian countries uses a much lower value to be declared as obese.
There are three different terms which can be used for the betterment of the condition. These three things can be used in order to fight obesity or in some conditions make the condition even worse. These things can be listed as
Hence comparing these three terms at hand and focusing on the effect these things have on the obesity, we can clearly highlight the term of control measures as the most effective remedy against obesity (Luppino, 2010). Such that a person acting on control measure does not have to face the problems with the operations or the diseases caused with obesity. By control measures a person can have a healthy life while not having any of the disease linked with obesity.
However, obesity is also linked with the society and culture. Such that different societies and cultures have different effects on the obesity in a certain region. This can be explained with the facts that the societies or culture which includes having oily foods and excessive eating are more effected by the following problem such that the body fats are made by the oily food a human being have during his or her daily life.
Such that the culture or societies such as the mid-Asian cultures and societies which promotes food with excessive oil in it and having an imbalance diet have more number of obese individuals. On the other hand cultures which are more inclined to fast food are also facing the problem linked with obesity in the sense that fast food also causes obesity in individuals.
However, these societies and cultures might also be helpful in eradicating the problem at hand (James, 2005). Such as the cultures and societies might have to be altered in order to fight obesity. This can be done by altering the culture to have a healthier life style. A life style including lesser number of fast food products or oily food product included in the meals on every day basis.
Conclusion:
Hence it can be concluded that obesity is a serious problem with the number of obesity increasing on daily basis. However the problem can very easily be controlled by using preventive measure and with the help of altering the cultures and societies in a way to have lesser fast food products or oily food in meals.
