Lesson Plan
Lesson Plan [30 points]: You will design a lesson plan for a classroom of 12 students that include four (4) English Language (ELLs). Below is a brief profile of each of the four ELL students to incorporate into your lesson: 4 a. El Salvador, has lived in the US since the last 6 months, speaks Spanish fluently, but a smattering of English. b. Yen, from Vietnam has lived in the US for 3 months, speaks passage English, but struggles with reading and writing. c. Mustafa, is from Saudi Arabia, has lived in the US for 1 year, and has consistently shown little enthusiasm in learning English, preferring to express himself in Arabic. d. Xavier, from Congo in Africa speaks Swahili and French and lived in a refugee camp for four years before arriving in the US two months ago. He also had limited formal schooling prior to coming to the country due to the prolonged genocide occasioned by armed conflicts between government backed troops and rebel groups in his country. Your lessons should focus on a topic in any subject areas of your choice, for example, science, math, social studies, and English language arts, and reflect your ability to design and deliver effective instruction, as well as administer appropriate methods of assessment. It should, in addition, demonstrate evidence-based best practices including culturally responsive teaching, differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and technology integration, with clear measurable learning objective(s) consistent with the Bloom’s Taxonomy of learning. You must upload all associated lesson materials including possible readings, textbook excerpts, worksheets, website links, graphics, lecture notes, PowerPoint slides, etc., with your lesson plan, to earn the points assign for this requirement.
