4.4 Research Project – Conceptual Overview Peer-Review Response/Defense
An important aspect of the peer review process is evaluating and addressing the recommendations of your reviewers. After the peer review has been completed on your conceptual overview, address each of the comments and state how these comments will be addressed in the next revision (i.e., rough draft). Will you incorporate the recommendations? Did a reviewer question bring a larger issue or consideration to light that you will not be able to explore as you further develop your project? Be sure to provide a thorough, well thought out response to each comment. Keep in mind that not every peer review comment has applicability, so make sure you indicate and defend why you will not make changes to address those particular types of recommendations or questions.
Use this peer review response/defense table template to compile a list of all the comments and questions the peer reviewers provided. Provide a response (as described above) to each comment or question
Dear Writer, This is what you wrote for this assignment and down below is the peer review that was commented on this paper.
ISSUES OF UNMANNED AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS(UAS)
The UAS has been used over some time in the united states on a limited range. The use of UAS has been mainly used for commercial as well as military operations. This paper will seek to discuss the issues that have hampered the use of UAS in large scale.
Potential Risks
There are small UAS that are cheap and can be afforded by many in the airspace. However, there are security risks associated with their usage. Safety and security concerns are huge. The current designs of UAS are not capable of detecting other manned aircraft and therefore increasing the risks of in-air collisions (Valavanis, & Vachtsevanos, 2015). On another dimension, the safety of current designs is not guaranteed as there are no robust measures of intervention in cases communication is lost between the UAS and the pilot’s headsets. This safety risk calls for the usage of machine learning techniques on top of the internet of things. Besides, UAS may breach security of sensitive areas such as military camps.
Inadequate Data to Complement Technology
Despite the government agencies and other agencies concerned with the design of UAS collect data, the accuracy of data is compromised. Collecting data is a daunting challenge as the issues of distance and speed from the pilot. Despite there being radar technology that can collect this information, theoretical and practical studies suggest that these gadgets are not accurate(Zeng, Zhang, & Lim, 2016). Therefore, designing better and safer UAS gadgets becomes a challenge. However, there are more efforts aimed at collecting data meant to improve UAS designs.
Local Restrictions
Restrictions over usage of UAS is among the issues hampering the development of UAS. The control of the skies is an important affair and therefore has caused the federal government and the state governments to get into tags of the war of who should control the skies. Local restrictions by the state governments are among the most pressing issues (Linchant, Lisein, Semeki, Lejeune, & Vermeulen, 2015). UAS could be used for commercial purposes but the regulation for this technology is not sufficient to enable efficient development of UAS.
Conclusion
The usage of UAS in the commercial, military, and other purposes have always seemed a bright idea. However, the design and regulation issues remain the biggest stumbling block to the usage of this technology.

Peer review or comment:
Hello Classmate,
Your Conceptual Overview is apparent and easy to follow for the reviewer. I think this is going to be a significant research project for you. I agree and think there are limitations on UAS application( this was one of my initial idea too), which mostly due to the limitation on regulation issue and safety concern as well (personally think it is design issue). FAA and other aviation department are catching up on more detailed regulation for UAS. I think by clearly present the regulation from authoritative department that put a limitation on UAS will help the reader easier to find your point. I hope you have a great time on this research project. Cheers.
