Product identified- Tomato Paste,
Assumption- Currently, my company is producing and distributing Tomato Paste to service providers. The Tomato Paste is delivered in various sizes ranging from 5 to 10 liters costing around 5000 to 10,000SDG (Sudanese Pound, equivalent to 10-20 USD). Our customers are restaurants, supermarkets, and food distributors.
New decision – To increase profit by targeting additional customers (Business to Consumers).
Location- Khartoum, Sudan.
My company Target market statement,
Our company decided to increase the profit of the company by targeting direct consumers. The new market will target Sudanese families who have the habit of using any tomato paste in their daily food. Most importantly, the market targets are families who can afford to purchase the product in consideration of the current economic inflation. According to Radio Dabanga, the inflation rate as of October 2021 is 350.84%.
The target market is also a foreigner who lives in Khartoum, Sudan. In Khartoum, there are many foreigners who have the culture of using Tomato Paste in their daily meals. However, our market targets are Asians including Chines, Indians, and others from the middle east.
This targeting is based on the large size market opportunity, food habits, culture, nationality, the geographical location where the targets are residing, access to local outlets. The product packaging of the Tomato paste will be redesigned with small sizes varying from 100 to 500 milliliters to make it affordable, one-time use, and accessible in local outlets.
To promote our product, we will use the most followed media outlets including national television and FM radios. Our promotion will include Sudanese celebrities with well-respected reputations.
Competitor’s target market statement,
There are similar products in the local market. Our competitor’s target markets are high-income Sudanese people and foreigners living in Khartoum. Our competitors import the product from European countries with high quality and well-known brand. Our competitor’s product is available in most of the hypermarkets and provides incentives such as free coupons to their customers to retain old customers and to invite new customers. They promote their products at big events and many big-size posters are placed in the key locations of Khartoum.
Value Proposition,
Our Tomato Paste is more affordable to many of the target markets, with already familiar test and acceptability. Further, our product is accessible to all as we are distributing our products to local supermarkets and outlets. Our product is made of fresh tomato in Sudan and supports local farmers. Further, our product packaging is made of environmentally friendly packaging materials.
