Describe a conflict episode you have observed in an organization and identify and describe the latent, perceived, felt, manifest, and aftermath stages of that particular episode.
Discussion Questions
Last year during the pandemic the Public Radio Program Directors organization held its annual conference virtually. One of the sessions, “The Birth of Music Format,” showcased an exciting new public radio/public media format.
Over the last few years, a new non-commercial music format has been taking shape, a format designed to serve a very different audience than any other in public media. After thoughtful research and planning, “Urban Alternative” began in 2016 and three new radio stations in the last year. These radio stations provide a mix of music and cultural programming and deep community partnerships that appeal to a younger, diverse, socially responsible and civically engaged audience. With their first years behind them, we’ll meet the people managing these new stations and learn about their journey. Featuring Ayana Contreras, Senior Content Producer at Vocalo Radio – Chicago; “Madd Hatta” Ben Thompson, Content Director at The Vibe on KTSU – Houston; Nikki Swarn, General Manager & Program Director at THE DROP – Denver; “Heart Attack” Mike Mauzone, Content Director at Blaz’n Hott 91 WNSB – Norfolk; and, Mike Henry, President of Paragon Media Strategies.
