Definition of Inflation – Price goes up. Explain when prices go up how this can be both good and bad for you personally?

Inflation is when price goes up and the value of money being less significant in which there is an excess amount of money within the economy. Personally this can be good for me by stocks that I own likely to go up because of job growth within the economy. The stocks that I own are long-term dividend pay outs which I receive monthly and quarterly. However this may be bad for me in that gas, groceries, and necessities will be increased in price which will hurt me as well. The value of my money will have lesser value than it was before as high inflation would usually cause which in turn is overall harmful for me and the economy.

Crony capitalism is an economic system where cash flows between the relationships of the business class and political class. An example of this is the NRA lobbying and donating money to the government to appeal the American people’s right of the Second Amendment. This debate of whether citizens should be armed has mixed feelings throughout society and that the NRA is a powerful organization with heavy support. With that said this relationship with the NRA and government officials definitely represents crony capitalism and shows how effective money can be. NRA donates money to the government usually for officials who are campaigning and supports the NRA’s ideology and in turn receives “favors” where that official will show support for the NRA.

Often times the term is used to describe favors that donors get from donating to those who hold political office. Do you believe this is very common here in California?

3(a) obstructionist, defensive, proactive, accommodative

Obstructionist is the practice of deliberately impeding or delaying the course of legal, legislative, or other procedures. Obstructionist have low social responsibility and prioritize their goals more than anything else. I do believe that obstructionist are common in California and pretty common in any state government where officials filibuster in order to delay something they do not want to happen. Defensive companies are corporations whose are stable even during economic instability and tend to have products that are essential to consumers. Proactive companies are businesses who are well-prepared and manage problems before they arise which is the difference in a reactive strategy. Accommodative plans are to ease something whether it be manager to employee or the ease of federal fund rates to boost the economy.[Order Now]

3(b) List 3 companies that you think take an obstructionist stance and 2 that take a proactive stance.

A company that takes an obstructionist stance is the Greenpeace International who are an organization that promotes the conservation of the environment and peace. This organization stands in the way of many profit hungry companies who use products such as oil, factories, and trees. Another company that takes an obstructionist view is Installed Building Products (IBP) who have low social responsibility and disregard environment and build homes instead of planting trees. Nestle is another company who takes an obstructionist stance and apparently took milk from mothers allegedly. Although they deny and say they provided mothers in West Africa free sample powdered milks. Two Companies that take a proactive stance is Ford and Amazon who have stability because of the careful planning and not reacting to the economics ups and downs.

4(a) Why do we see few companies as proactive?

Few companies are proactive because it is difficult to compete with larger corporations and figure out what is needed in the future. Companies are typically reactive where they respond towards the present instead of the future. It is difficult to predict what will be needed in the future and what will happen economically around the world. For example face masks are in high demand and that in the future we may no longer need it. Although after these times other necessities will become more significant and will get more attention.

4 (b) What can we do as consumers to encourage more proactive companies?

As consumers we can encourage more proactive companies by supporting innovative products. A post I saw on Instagram showed a picture difference where a news chopper lost its purpose to a camera drone. Time will probably encourage more proactive companies where technology surrounds us in our daily lives. Another thing we can do as consumers is let other people know of proactive companies and give them attention. Proactive companies are not risk takers which could lead to attraction of more people.

Inflation is normal in our society especially when products become too plentiful or scarce If you are selling products that are often sought after they will sell at no matter what price you sell them. Inflation will go up (prices rise) when there are less options to go and get the item you desire, and inflation will go down (prices lower) when there are many places where you can go and get the same items.

Crony Capitalism is when a company thrives off of relationships with the government rather than how well their product and company is. So if your company keeps donating money or help to local government personnel you will be more likely to get help financially or in other ways from the government. In california I haven’t personally seen this but it is hard to start a company and continue to thrive without some extra outside help so I wouldn’t knock that possibility out.

Obstructionist: a company that does as little as possible and may try to cover up or deny violations

Defensive: does everything that is asked legally but no more. Proactive: actively seeking to contribute to the well-being of individuals and groups . Accommodative: meets legal and ethical requirements and may go further

Many companies may do things that aren’t perceived well to the public so it’s not easy for them to show the public all the things they “believe” in or stances they take. We as consumers can show more praise to companies that take a proactive approach which can make other companies feel safe to join the wave of proactivity. Also if that doesn’t work we can stop supporting those who aren’t proactive and hopefully in some fashion force them to change.
