Description
The Annotated Bibliography
Generally, this is a research tool. This is where the person, who puts together the annotated bibliography, has researched, read, and assembled a collection of books and article for a specific purpose.
Topic: American Film in 1940s and 1950s
I have provided an example for you to look at, there should be one in your book as well.
Note several things from the example:
Heading – yours should be adapted to your class, but formatted identically.
Creative Title – what will yours be?
Double Spaced throughout.
The Citations begin at the Margin (using a hanging indent for the second line.)
The text portion (the summary on the example) is indented.
Each entry is done per MLA Style
The entries are laid out in alphabetical order Your Annotated Bibliography will be more scholarly than the example. For the purpose of your Annotated Bib, you will follow the example as provided, but you will do the following:
Complete the Bibliography using 3 of the articles related to your topic (Film Noir or Hitchcock)
Each Annotation should be 250 words. But, think about your work last week…you have already summarized and placed them in context or their rhetorical situation. You should able to copy and paste and then revise and edit.
You have done the hard work.
Do the MLA citation as indicated on the example. The example Annotated Bib that I have provided only offers a summary.
You will: The First Paragraph should: Place each work in the context/Rhetorical Situation (Think PIGSAC: Persona, Intent, Genre, Subject, Audience, Context from last week and ); and,
Summarize the article. You should be able to go to your journals that you already completed. From there you can cut and paste that first paragraph here. For those of you who did not do the work, you will have to create them.
Note: This part of the Annotated Bib can be two paragraphs The last paragraph of each entry should discuss where the value of the article is to the topic.
If you need help or ideas in linking them – look at the internet read about the articles and what “Smart people” say about them – maybe they can help you when you are struggling.
