Aging and Film
Discussion instructions:
The discussion board requires you to complete two (2) discussion posts in response to the questions provided.
Each discussion post consists of two parts:
The first post is “blind” meaning you cannot preview work by classmates before completing your own.
Once you’ve provided your initial post, you will be invited to read posts by your classmates.
Your second post is to be a response to post by a classmate.
The discussion boards are intended to create engagement amongst your peers on the course material.
They also provide an opportunity to reflect on the course content and how it relates to relevant aging issues.
Your first post should be a maximum of 125-200 words, thoughtful, concise, and well-written.
Your first discussion post should reflect a critical perspective to the question.
The second post is to be a maximum of 125-200 words and should include more details than simply stating “I agree!”
Discussion Question:
Based on your notes from closely reviewing one of the short films you watched (besides Little House of Cubes), respond to at least one of these questions about it. [Make sure that your response refers to elements of film such as lighting, music, story structure, characterization, movement].
How did the film challenge or reinforce stereotypical understandings of later life?
How does the film reinforce or contradict what you’ve learned in the course so far?
How did elements of the film (such as lighting, music, story structure, etc) add to the depiction of aging in the film? Bonus Question: One reason to study forms of art is that they are free to raise questions rather than having to answer them. With that in mind, what question(s) about aging does the film you chose to focus on raise? How does that relate to what you’ve been learning in the course so far?
Please complete all questions including the bonus question. No outside sources needed!!!
I will provide all readings and videos to complete this discussion.

Average Score
50-85% |
40-38 points
More depth/information is required for the context and importance, otherwise the study detail will be unclear. There is no search history information supplied. |
83-76 points
There is a review of important theoretical literature, however there is limited integration of research into problem-related ideas. The review is just partly focused and arranged. There is research that both supports and opposes. A summary of the material given is provided. The conclusion may or may not include a biblical integration. |
52-49 points
The content is somewhat ordered, but there is no discernible organization. The use of typeface, color, graphics, effects, and so on may sometimes distract from the presenting substance. It is possible that the length criteria will not be reached. |
Poor Quality
0-45% |
37-1 points
The context and/or importance are lacking. There is no search history information supplied. |
75-1 points
There has been an examination of relevant theoretical literature, but still no research concerning problem-related concepts has been synthesized. The review is just somewhat focused and organized. The provided overview of content does not include any supporting or opposing research. The conclusion has no scriptural references. |
