Essay based on this brainstorm:
I would like to advocate against euthanasia law in Michigan. According to Michigan euthanasia laws, a patient can request a life-ending medication or simply withhold a treatment. Also, a patient can sign a written offecial document for someone they think is trustworthy to make such a decision in case the patient isn’t capable of making it. I totally understand that euthanasia is a procedure to help end the suffering of sever pain for the patient and his loved ones. On the other hand, there are lots of ethical, mental and emotional competency concerns when making such decision. The way I would advocate against euthanasia is by taking several legal steps. First step is to educate Michigan citizens about the ethical and mental competency issues when deciding if euthanasia is the right decision. Also, try to make the citizens more aware about the level of frustration and pressure that such a decision causes and how it may affect the efficiency and righteous of the final decision. Then, I can reveal psychological research evidence that support how emotions can influence the quality of decision making. My argument against legalizing euthanasia in Michigan is to help the citizens realize that euthanasia doesn’t just affect the individual who is making the decision but the society. My advocacy is to protect our youth from the idea that ending life is an option and a choice when they are going through tough times or illness.
Personal experience
I had a grandfather who suffered from cancer and had to make such a decision.
