Write a planetary geology focused review of one of the following movies and post it to the discussion forum.

The Martian: From IMDB: “During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. Your review must include a critique of the “science” in the movie using what you’ve learned in this class and other sources (e.g. web pages, textbooks)- is the scenario geologically plausible? List instances of “good science” where the moviemakers did their homework, and “bad science,” where reality is tossed out the window in favor of a more exciting movie. You don’t have to catch every last minor inaccuracy, but hopefully you’ll catch the big ones! Include at least some geological critique (e.g. a criticism of how gravity on a spaceship is handled is fine, but make sure you also include something about the geology- e.g. what would the surface of an asteroid look like? What would a sandstorm really be like on another planet?

Also include a brief description of how scientists are portrayed in the film, if they appear at all- does it seem realistic or stereotyped? Do you think that in a real-world situation scientists would be more or less involved with the disaster/mission/issue?
