Therapeutic Communication with the Patient Who Has a Tracheostomy
The patient is a 55 year old male complaining of shortness of breath related to sarcodosis for 20 years. The patient is on medical disability from his marketing job at IBM. This chronic illness has caused scarring in the lungs resulting in Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease. Due to chronic lung infections and endotracheal scarring, a tracheostomy was inserted. With the stressful change, the patient seems to be adjusting to the tracheostomy and its care. The wife and two sons are having more difficulty in adjusting. Use the group project rubic to develop your project on therapeutic communication with the patient who has a tracheostomy and chronic obstructive lung disease. Include the family in your therapeutic communication strategies.
