Your analytical report assignment is to evaluate the business programs of three four-year universities and determine which university is the best choice for obtaining a Master’s degree in your field of study (MBA if you are planning to be a business major). Reports without in-text citations will receive a maximum grade of C (70%). The report should contain the following elements: Preliminary (precedes your page count).

NOTE: All sources on your works cited need to be cited in your paper. All graphs need citations – “source, compiled from (…..) . The goal of your research is to find data that compares the three schools on a specific criteria point (see criteria points below). You will want to put that comparative data into a graphic (table, chart) that shows a visual comparison of the schools, for that criteria point. See the analytical report sample for examples of graphics. Bloomberg Comparison Report – MBA (Links to an external site.) You will evaluate your three schools using criteria. These are consideration points important to you in selecting a graduate program. Some suggested criteria examples are below. You can use these, or other criteria points of your choosing. The most important factor in choosing your criteria points is that you need to have comparative data for all three schools, on each criteria point. Without comparative data for all three schools on a particular criteria point, you don’t have a true comparison.
I recommend researching more criteria points than you need (say six for example), and use the top four criteria points that have the best comparative data. Suggested criteria points: You need a minimum of three criteria points, and a maximum of five. You can use other criteria points, as long as they can be compared and you have actual data to compare. The outline below has numbers to show you the order of how you present the criteria information in your report .
Do NOT use outline format in your report. You will have headers identifying the sections of your report (as shown in the report outline above). Again, do NOT number the sections of your report. For your criteria overview section, each criteria analysis section will have three parts . DO NOT NUMBER these sections. Look at the report sample (link above) for the sequencing of your criteria analysis.
The sequencing for each criteria point is shown below. Again, DO NOT USE outline format. The outline below is for reference. You are writing paragraphs and a full report, not an outline.
Criteria heading. For example Criteria One: Comparison of Entrance Requirements That paragraph will include language directing the reader to the graph that follows. As shown below in figure ___ Your first graphic is figure one. The source. At the bottom of each graphic you should include the source of where the data in your graphic came from. Otherwise, at the bottom of your graphic, simply write source: ______ . Use MLA format for all source citations. See the report sample in the analytical report resource page for reference on sourcing graphics, as well as in text citations. Do not cite using urls.
That is not the correct way to cite sources in MLA format Each graphic should have the following four components Summary of the graphic. Here you have some text that explains which school won the criteria point, and why. Don’t restate the numbers that are in the graphic. Your text should provide some explanation of how you evaluated the data to come to your winner for that criteria point. Each criteria point section should include a clear mention of which school WON that criteria point, before moving on to the next criteria point See the report example for reference.
