I require a minimum of 200 words for a response back to another student.
*200 words are required for a response to another student. The two postings responding back to two different students must be a minimum of 200 words in length and add something substantial to the discussion.
Respond back to two different students and comment on their postings. Please try to choose students that you either disagree with (because it is usually easier to find something to write about) or find a posting that you can easily write 200 words to that are not just “I agree.” “I feel the same.” Statements like this will not count as part of the 200-word minimum.
Stating phrases such as, “Hi Mandy! Great post! I agree with you! Thanks for sharing!” would not count as four sentences. NOTE: None of these phrases would count towards the 4 complete sentences requirement!
Try to be unique in your postings to the two students; do not simply re-write the same thing twice to both students. Please do not “re-write” what you stated for your main posting. Your responses should add something unique and substantial to the material for the week.
Asking a student a question or for a clarification is fine, but it will not count towards the 200-word minimum for a response. I have had to enforce this because I have seen students merely writing 5 questions for a response: “Did you like being an officer? Was it scary? Did you shoot anyone? Did you ever get hurt?” and this will not count as an acceptable response to a student.
Anexamples of a GREAT response: (A response needs to address the individual by name and be at least or 200 words and add something original and substantial to the discussion):
Karen, I can relate to your self-esteem boost because I was in the same type situation when it came to a promotion. I think when others feel you have what it takes to do a certain job that it’s a major confidence booster. I don’t think everybody responds the same to situations but as far as promotions I think that the majority would have a self-esteem boost because they are getting more money. For most people, money appears to be a motivator when beginning a new job. Money isn’t everything though if you are going to feel horrible at your job!

There is a review of important theoretical literature, however there is limited integration of research into problem-related ideas. The review is just partly focused and arranged. There is research that both supports and opposes. A summary of the material given is provided. The conclusion may or may not include a biblical integration. |

The content is somewhat ordered, but there is no discernible organization. The use of typeface, color, graphics, effects, and so on may sometimes distract from the presenting substance. It is possible that the length criteria will not be reached. |
