Description
USE THIS ARTICLE-https://the-toast.net/2015/09/30/history-korean-adoption/ +Writing Your Annotations Think rhetorically when you write your annotations: ask yourself “What would a person interested in my topic want to know about this source that would be most useful in deciding whether to read it or not?” You will answer that question for each source in one or two paragraphs (100 – 200 words) as follows:
Part I: Summary The summary should address what type of source this is (i.e. a government website, an online encyclopedia article, an editorial, a news report, a book chapter, a scholarly article, a book review, etc). Then it should objectively and concisely identify: the author’s overall purpose in writing the main point, claim or thesis (if there is one) and conclusion (if there is one) the key ideas covered throughout the source. A description of the intended audience
Part II: Evaluation The evaluation of the source should be particularly focused thinking about the text rhetorically, and explaining this to someone else researching your topic. Here are some questions to consider when evaluating the source: In what ways is it useful for your argument? What kinds of information does it contain? How up to date is it? What kinds of bias does it demonstrate? Who is it written for? Is it in-depth or introductory? Is it taking an unusual perspective or approach?
CRITERIA FOR COMPLETE A “complete” annotation will: Be formatted correctly (MLA guidelines) Include a formal citation A sentence that objectively represents the source’s argument, major assertion or conclusion An accurate and complete summary of the source’s overall development and support (evidence) A description of the source’s purpose and audience (who it is written for and what it is written to do for that audience) A discussion of the source’s credibility An evaluation of the source’s usefulness to the writer and/or an important idea from the source that helps develop the writer’s thinking about the topic Include all previous annotations (if relevant). Annotation
#1 and Annotation
#2 will consist of just two sources (A1 and A2)-in ABC order (follow MLA guidelines). Annotation
#3 and Annotation
#4 will consist of four sources (A1, A2, A3, and A4).
This will help you build your annotated bibliography for the final project. Share reading annotations with instructor. The reading annotations must: Be adequately annotated with margin notations Demonstrate that the reader understands the text beyond the literal level. Include marginal notes showing that the reader has analyzed the text, made some connections and drawn some conclusions. Include notations that are balanced and show some deep reading and thinking. Most to all of the text is addressed
