I need around 150 words
Post starts below:
I would like to start this discussion by explaining why do we need a strategy and then what is a business strategy, organizational strategy and IS strategy?
When one starts a business, be it a small or a big business you always play to win and to win you definitely need a strategy and work towards a goal. You need to design how to win, which is called the strategy. The business strategy is nothing but a set of guidelines and a proper structure on how to develop your business and achieve the goals set for the organization.
Hence it plays quite an important role in driving the organizational strategy and IS strategy as they are part of the business that helps it to grow. Organizational strategy is a dynamic long-term plan that helps you to create a goal and vision for the company.
I used the word dynamic here because, strategies are never constant, you change the strategy based on the circumstances but at the same time your goal can be constant, and your vision may or mayn’t change. IS strategy, Information systems strategy is a plan to utilize the technology and information services in such a way that it supports the organization’s overall business plan.
Now to answer the first question, organizational strategy focuses on the long-term goals of the company and IS strategy is concerned about the technology goals and how to utilize it for organization’s benefits. These two basically focuses on two individual goals for the organization but one needs to focus on how to utilize these strategies to help the business grow and for that we need business strategy to drive these two towards one main goal which is business growth.
If the business strategy was not the driver then business would not be successful and the three strategies will not be synchronized, which is not good for the organizational growth. Any organization’s business strategy is to compete successfully in its respective market.
From the Strategy Triangle, I learnt that “business strategy means the goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics of the company; organizational strategy means the structure, hiring, operations, and process during the implementation of that company’s business strategy; IS strategy consists of hardware, software, network, data of the company.” Therefore, it is quite important for the business strategy to drive organizational strategy and IS strategy so that the three can be aligned and synchronized.
