There are many ways that small businesses have more leverage than a bigger business. With smaller businesses everyone knows everyone. The people are more of a family unit and they know where each person needs help. With knowing the each person the training can be tailored fit to the person instead of the company as a whole.
When there is a medical emergency the hrm already knows where the most help is needed. The help can come from getting donations it can be reviewing their medical plan with them or it can even be with visiting them when they are sick. A smaller business has more leg way when making schedules.
When making schedules at a bigger business there are more people to consider and it is harder to keep the schedule to where there is staff available all the time the business is open. When policy needs to be changed there is less people that will need to be trained and since everyone knows everyone, they are willing to help the business as a whole.
A smaller business is able to make more of their own choices. If they want to hire someone that has been in jail they are able to where as a big corporation has policy’s in place where this is not a possibility. Compensation, employee relations, training, and staffing are four domains of human resources.
I believe that employee relations are the most important part of any human relations position. The person in the job needs to be able to be trusted. They need to be able to have people come to them and ask questions and know that they are being listened to and their concerns are important.
